Los Angeles County Counsel Notice of Opportunity to Receive a Settlement Payment
Los Angeles County Counsel, on behalf of the People of the State of California (“Plaintiff”), has settled a lawsuit against HRB Digital LLC and HRB Tax Group, Inc. (“Defendants”), and, as a result, you are one of the people we believe may be entitled to receive a payment from the settlement fund. The case is The People of the State of California v. HRB Digital LLC and HRB Tax Group, Inc., Case No. 26STCV23180, in the Superior Court of the State of California, County of Los Angeles.
As the recipient of this notice, you must complete a claim form by December 13, 2026 to receive a pro rata portion of the distribution from the settlement fund. The settlement fund available for distribution is $367,540 in total. The amount you receive will depend on the number of valid claims filed. No portion of the settlement fund can be returned to the Defendants.

In the case, Plaintiff alleged that Defendants’ use of certain digital technologies on their website violated California’s Unfair Competition Law and its False Advertising Law.
Defendants deny these claims. The Court did not rule in favor of the Plaintiff or Defendants. Instead, the parties agreed to a settlement. This case also does not involve any identity fraud, security breach, or unauthorized use of Social Security or driver’s license numbers.
You are not required to sign any release or pay any fees in connection with accepting this settlement, as this is an action pursued by Los Angeles County Counsel on behalf of the People of the State of California.
